Things To Consider When Choosing A Whitewater Rafting Outfitter

Author: Nick Hantge

There are many things to do in with your family during the summer in Colorado. One of the most popular things to do outdoors is Colorado River rafting. This great activity can be done with all age groups, skill levels and on all major Colorado rivers. The great thing about whitewater rafting in Colorado is all the excellent rafting outfitters there to guide you through this adventure. Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a river rafting outfitter:

Price is something we usually consider for all of the things we do but when you think about taking your whole family for a rafting trip, we are talking a decent chunk of change. You will want to consider the price of your rafting trip because multiple rafting companies float down the same river. Most outfitters are excellent at what they do so paying more per person for a very similar rafting trip does not make much sense. See if the rafting company offers group discounts, if they charge per person or if they will charge per raft.

River guides usually make a rafting trip. If you have a rafting guide that is funny, considerate and can answer all of your questions it will make the experience that much better. I would recommend asking friends or family members who have gone river rafting before and ask them who they used as an outfitter. You can also look up reviews of the rafting companies on online websites and they will usually include the name of a guide if they thought they were good.

Special needs accommodation could be the difference maker between one rafting company or another. If you have any special needs, check with the rafting company's website or give them a call for and you should be able to find this information out.

Emergencies are nothing you want to think about before your whitewater rafting trip but should not be left out in your decision process. Although some rafting trips are in the middle of a wild river several hours from a hospital, all of the rafting outfitters are trained to handle a majority of the emergencies you might encounter. Keeping in mind that whitewater rafting is a dangerous sport, check with the company to see how many people recently have been injured.

If you have any more questions about Colorado whitewater Rafting there are many great informational sites out there. Check out Colorado Vacations or just Google "Colorado River Rafting Outfitters" or search for "River Rafting Blogs."
